Care

Life can be tough, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Care team members want to help, from the birth of a baby to bereavement and homebound to benevolence needs, we have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus while lifting each other up in prayer.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Pray, Encourage, Visit, Comfort, Support, Meet Needs, Pray Berean
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 16+, Empathetic, Compassionate, Discerning, Good Listener
  • COMMITMENT: Varies; Serve with a partner or team during the week and weekends as needed

Connect

Whether it’s offering a bottle of water, helping someone find a parking space or a seat, or some other act of service, our goal is to help people connect to God and each other. Connect teams offer a wide variety of opportunities to serve before, during, and after all our Sunday gatherings and special events.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Host, Greet, Usher, Parking Assistance, Welcome Guests and Members
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 14+, Friendly, Approachable, Welcoming, Hospitable, Love for People
  • COMMITMENT: Serve once every 3-4 weeks at 9:15 or 11 AM and at some church events

Discipleship

Discipleship is the process of learning to be a follower of Jesus. Many of our volunteers serve during the week by leading groups or as part of men’s or women’s gatherings either in their homes or on campus. 

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a Grow Group, Lead a D-Group, Teach Grow Classes
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 18+ and elder approval; Love for Scripture, Integrity, Communicator
  • COMMITMENT: Serve once a week for a year, Sept – May, or for a weekly 6–12-week class

Events

Passionate about creating memorable experiences and bringing people together, these volunteers work to plan and execute vibrant, meaningful events for our congregation, from small gatherings to special Sundays to large-scale celebrations.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Event Planning, Promotion, Decorating, Set-up/Clean-up, Refreshments
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 16+, Creative, Attentive, Collaborative, Problem Solver, Flexible
  • COMMITMENT: Varies. Serve with a partner or team during the week and weekends as needed.

Facilities

Our Facilities team helps to create a welcoming, safe, distraction-free environment by maintaining and securing every area of our campus, inside and out. These behind-the-scenes volunteers are vital for providing a comfortable and attractive environment for worship and fellowship at Berean.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Building and Grounds, Cleaning, and Security
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 14+, Physically Active, Reliable, Attentive. (Security: Ages 21+)
  • COMMITMENT: Varies. Serve with a partner or team during the week and weekends as needed.

Ministry Support

The Ministry Support team plays a critical role in assisting with the operations, logistics, and administrative tasks that enable our church’s various ministries to thrive. This team ensures the seamless functioning of Berean’s day-to-day operations and ministry activities.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Admin Support, Communications, Scheduling, Data Entry, Resources
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 16+, Reliable, Organized, Attentive, Team Player, Communication Skills
  • COMMITMENT: Varies. Serve with a partner or team during the week and weekends as needed.

Missions

Our Missions team is looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to help drive our Missions initiatives and support our partners in spreading the Gospel and serving communities. Our team plays a vital role in furthering God’s Kingdom across the world.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Missions Partners, Outreach, Mission Trip Coordination
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 16+, Mission-Minded, Reliable, Organized, Cultural Sensitivity, Flexible
  • COMMITMENT: Varies. Serve with a partner or team during the week and weekends as needed.

NextGen

Be part of leading the next generation to know and follow Jesus. NextGen volunteers help children of all ages feel welcome and known by creating environments where they connect with God, experience Him, and take their next steps of faith.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: PreK (Infant-4yrs), Kids (K-5th), Students (6-12th), Young Adults (18-20’s)
  • REQUIREMENTS: Ages 12+ with approved adult; Application and Background Check; Love for youth, Relational, Energetic, Patient
  • COMMITMENT: Varies. Serve with a partner or team midweek or Sundays at 9:15 or 11 AM, as needed.

Worship

Serve on stage or behind the scenes as we glorify God and connect others to Him by passionately leading people to worship through music, technology, and creativity.  We are united by our love for Jesus and our desire to see His glory displayed.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead Worship and run Media
  • REQUIREMENTS: Musicians - Audition and Training. Media - Ages 14+, Interest in tech, Attention to detail
  • COMMITMENT: Serve once every 3-4 weeks for both Sunday services. Arrive at 7:30 AM.

SERVE FAQ's

When you sign up to Serve, you are signing up for one year, from August to August. Serve sign-ups take place in the summer for the new year.

Our goal is for you to find joy and fulfillment in serving. If you feel that your current Serve team isn’t the right fit for you, please let us know. We want more for you than from you, and we’re here to help guide you toward a team where you can thrive and feel connected.

You're welcome to serve in multiple capacities! We want to help ensure it doesn't lead to being overwhelmed or hinder full participation in each role. Talk to your Serve Team Leaders to coordinate your schedule if you are serving on more than one team.

Volunteers should commit to serving during one worship service and attending another service each week. We don’t want you to miss out on worship with our Berean family! 

Start by filling out the SERVE AT BEREAN form. A Serve Team leader will contact you to go over next steps. Thank you for your heart to serve!

There are so many ways to serve at Berean, from Greeter Team to Berean Kids each Sunday, to Awana and Doxa on Wednesday nights, to special events like VBS and Chilly Fest throughout the year. Contact us – we would love to help you find your place to serve.
